The Xiaomi Sound Party is the better-sounding, louder option. A versatile outdoor speaker with warm, balanced sound, fully waterproof build, long battery life, a phone charging port and a handy retractable handle. Alan Ross Reviews measured it at 102dB at full volume, against 99dB for the Tribit Stormbox 2. It links with other speakers (Party Connect, up to 100 speakers), which the Tribit Stormbox 2 cannot. The catch: The sound evidence is mixed rather than universally glowing.
The Tribit Stormbox 2 is the lighter choice. A light, waterproof everyday speaker with a long rated battery and an Xbass mode that fills out the low end. At 1.3 lbs (593 g) it weighs much less than the Xiaomi Sound Party at 2.6 lbs (1.2 kg). It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Xiaomi Sound Party lacks. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Xiaomi Sound Party lacks. The tradeoff: Drivers on the side, so it will have a rolled off treble listening to it face on.
Buy the Xiaomi Sound Party. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $80 you would save on the Tribit Stormbox 2 does not close the gap.
