Short answer: the Soundcore Motion 300, unless you want to skip EQing your speaker. It ranks #3 of 164 medium speakers against #20 for the Xiaomi Sound Party, and it costs $63 less on top of that.
The Motion 300’s weakness is exactly where the Sound Party is strong. Our notes call the Motion 300 very rolled off in the treble out of the box, to the point it would rank much lower without dialing in EQ or maxing the top two treble bands. The Sound Party, by contrast, plays pretty balanced and more neutral straight out of the box, with better off-axis dispersion than rivals like the VIFA Helsinki thanks to its tweeter. If you don’t want to touch an EQ app, the Sound Party is the more finished-sounding speaker on arrival.
Where the Motion 300 pulls ahead is bass and versatility. It has pretty deep bass for its small size and can be used standing in stereo or lying flat for omnidirectional coverage, with a separate custom EQ saved for each orientation. The Sound Party’s bass can turn slightly thuddy at high volume with a 180Hz peak, and it can’t match the Soundcore Boom 2 on raw bass output.
Everything else favors the Sound Party on paper: it runs 26 hours of battery against 13 for the Motion 300, doubles as a USB-C power bank, and carries an IP67 rating versus IPX7. None of that closes the sound quality gap once the Motion 300 is EQed.
Buy the Soundcore Motion 300 if you’re willing to apply a quick EQ tweak (community presets exist for exactly this speaker) for deep bass and stereo/omnidirectional flexibility at a lower price.
Buy the Xiaomi Sound Party if you want balanced sound with zero setup, longer battery life, and a built-in power bank, and don’t mind paying more for it.

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the small size. Pocket size in a big pocket. Can be used in stereo facing you, or omnidirectional lying down. Ability to have a custom EQ for each orientation, standing, lying flat, hanging. Try the Uboom L EQs from Oluv for a more neutral sound. Measured bass extension of 50Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Without the above EQ or turning the top 2 treble EQ bars to max, this speaker is very rolled off in the treble and will rank around #50 in the rankings. Bassup mode is worse than Signature. Not quite as detailed or neutral as higher ranked speakers. Slight bass distortion when turned up.

Xiaomi Sound Party: $142.99 Amazon eBay
Pros: An unusually versatile 1.2kg outdoor speaker: IP67 dust/water protection, USB-C power-bank output, NFC pairing, lights, stereo pairing and a claimed 26-hour battery life. Several independent reviews describe a warm, generally balanced sound with clear vocals and useful bass impact when Bass Boost is off. It is also easy to carry thanks to the retractable handle. Measured bass extension of 54Hz (-10dB).
Cons: The sound evidence is mixed rather than universally glowing. One lab review found it loud but flat and unclean with blurred treble, while others hear the Bass Boost mode as boomy upper bass that can bottom out at high volume. It is not the strongest choice for a large party: tested output is around 94dB and rivals such as the Soundcore Boom 2 play louder with deeper bass. SBC is the only Bluetooth codec and there is no aux input.
