The Xdobo X8 is the lighter choice. A cheap splash resistant speaker that plays loud for background music outdoors, with aux and microSD playback. At 1.9 lbs (860 g) it weighs noticeably less than the Sonos Play at 2.9 lbs (1.3 kg). It has an adjustable EQ, which the Sonos Play lacks. Watch for: The single full-range driver is the limitation.
The Sonos Play is the better-sounding, longer-running option. A Wi-Fi and Bluetooth portable with wide stereo sound, a long lasting swappable battery, waterproofing and full Sonos multiroom support. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 15 for the Xdobo X8. It is rated IP67 against IPX5 for the Xdobo X8. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Xdobo X8. The tradeoff: Bass distorts noticeably on bass-heavy tracks at default settings, and the distortion persists even after enabling Trueplay tuning and manually pulling bass back in the app.
Buy the Sonos Play. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Xdobo X8 is no longer sold new.
