Short answer: the Soundcore Motion 300 for deep bass in a pocketable size. It gives pretty deep bass for the small size, can face you in stereo or lie flat for omnidirectional sound, and stores a custom EQ for each orientation. The Sonos Play offers wider off-axis stereo dispersion, but it sounds boxy and short on clarity next to cheaper competitors. The Soundcore has its own catch: without EQ work it is very rolled off in the treble.
Buy the Soundcore Motion 300. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Sonos Play and costs less, which makes it the one to get unless you need something the other one does better.
If battery life is a priority, the Sonos Play is rated for 24 hours versus 13 hours for the Soundcore Motion 300.

Pros: Genuinely wide, clean stereo dispersion off-axis thanks to the two angled tweeters, holding up from the side far better than most portables. Loudness processing keeps it sounding full-bodied at low volume. 24-hour user-replaceable battery with an included wireless charging base, IP67 waterproof and dustproof, and full Sonos WiFi multi-room with AirPlay 2 on top of Bluetooth 5.3.
Cons: Bass distorts noticeably on bass-heavy tracks at default settings, and the distortion persists even after enabling Trueplay tuning and manually pulling bass back in the app. Sounds boxy and short on clarity next to cheaper competitors.

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the small size. Pocket size in a big pocket. Can be used in stereo facing you, or omnidirectional lying down. Ability to have a custom EQ for each orientation, standing, lying flat, hanging. Try the Uboom L EQs from Oluv for a more neutral sound. Beat the Marshall Stockwell III in Alan Ross’s live A/B. Measured bass extension of 50Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Without the above EQ or turning the top 2 treble EQ bars to max, this speaker is very rolled off in the treble and will rank around #50 in the rankings. Bassup mode is worse than Signature. Not quite as detailed or neutral as higher ranked speakers. Slight bass distortion when turned up.
