Short answer: the Onn Portable FM Boombox. It ranks #26 of 115 large speakers by sound quality, rated 4.2/5, at $74.83; the Xdobo X8 Max ranks #83, rated 2.9/5, and costs $105.99, so there is little reason to consider the other one.
The case for the Xdobo X8 Max: A feature packed waterproof boombox with a huge battery, power bank output, and enough volume for outdoor background music. The catch: The voicing is bass-heavy with thin, boosted highs that can turn harsh, and reviews report distortion rather than clean dynamics when pushed hard.
The Onn Portable FM Boombox is the better-sounding, lighter pick. An excellent value waterproof boombox that floats, with reasonably deep bass, FM radio, lights and a long battery. At 4.9 lbs (2.22 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the Xdobo X8 Max at 6.3 lbs (2.86 kg). It links with other speakers (Party Sync, pairs with 1 other onn. speaker), which the Xdobo X8 Max cannot. The tradeoff: Reasonable frequency response, but not quite as smooth as some of the top-ranked speakers in this size.
Buy the Onn Portable FM Boombox. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Xdobo X8 Max and costs less, so only choose the other one for a particular feature it does better.
