Short answer: the Vifa Helsinki if sound quality matters most, the onn Portable FM Boombox if price matters most. The Vifa Helsinki ranks #1 of 78 large speakers at $449. The onn Portable FM Boombox ranks #23 at $74.83, $374.17 cheaper.
What the onn Portable FM Boombox offers: Extremely good value. Reasonably deep bass, though not as deep as something like the JBL Xtreme 3, Soundcore Boom 2, or Tribit Stormbox Lava. IPX7 waterproof and floats. FM radio with 10 presets. 6 multicolor LED lighting effects. Can run on battery or corded power. Watch for: Reasonable frequency response, but not quite as smooth as some of the top-ranked speakers in this size. No custom EQ. Only available in the United States and Canada.
What the Vifa Helsinki offers: Generally regarded as the best midrange and treble sound quality of any battery powered Bluetooth speaker. Watch for: No TWS pairing, looks like a purse, requires a hacked Vifa app (Android only post #48) to enable night mode to sound good. Not sure I can recommend this one generally these days, the Uboom L has 98% of the sound quality with more features and a way cheaper price. There are mentions that the 2022 “new” version of this speaker doesn’t sound as good as Vifa was purchased by a Chinese company and laid off all the great sound engineers in the Austria office.
Buy the onn Portable FM Boombox if the price is the priority over sound quality, or the Vifa Helsinki if sound quality is the priority over the price.
There is a real battery-life gap here: the onn Portable FM Boombox is rated for 16 hours, the Vifa Helsinki only 8 hours.
Water resistance is not close: the onn Portable FM Boombox is rated at IPX7 (brief submersion), well ahead of the Vifa Helsinki at no water resistance.
