Short answer: the Onn Portable FM Boombox. It ranks #26 of 115 large speakers by sound quality, rated 4.2/5, at $74.83; the W-King D9 ranks #93, rated 2.5/5, and costs $89.98, which makes this an easy call rather than a real tradeoff.
The W-King D9 is the longer-running choice. A compact, punchy boombox with a very long rated battery, water resistance, and power bank output for casual outdoor use. It is rated for 40 hours of battery against 16 for the Onn Portable FM Boombox. The catch: Treble rolls off early, limiting air and fine detail, while owner reports note Bluetooth interference and some noise at maximum speaker volume.
The Onn Portable FM Boombox is the better-sounding pick. An excellent value waterproof boombox that floats, with reasonably deep bass, FM radio, lights and a long battery. It links with other speakers (Party Sync, pairs with 1 other onn. speaker), which the W-King D9 cannot. The catch: Reasonable frequency response, but not quite as smooth as some of the top-ranked speakers in this size.
Buy the Onn Portable FM Boombox. It is rated higher for sound quality than the W-King D9 and costs less, which makes it the one to get unless you need something the other one does better.
