The Turtlebox Ranger is the better-sounding choice. Smoother frequency response than the other Turtlebox speakers. It links with other speakers (Turtlebox Party Mode), which the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom cannot. It charges over USB-C rather than Micro USB. The tradeoff: Bass sounds kind of thuddy and isn’t as deep as higher ranked speakers.
The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom is the lighter option. IP67 rated and floats. At 0.9 lbs (425 g) it weighs much less than the Turtlebox Ranger at 2.4 lbs (1.09 kg). Watch for: Not stereo, barely any bass, recessed treble.
Buy the Turtlebox Ranger. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom is discontinued, so it is only available used.
