Short answer: the Ranger if you use it outdoors, the Groove if design and desktop use matter more. These rank #60 and #105 out of 157 portable speakers, with the Groove at $9 against the Ranger’s $250.
The Groove’s appeal is its look, not its output. Its pros describe pretty balanced sound and a distinctive mid-century design with real wood veneer and a woven grille, unlike most plastic and rubber portables. But its cons are direct about the tradeoffs: it isn’t stereo, bass doesn’t go as deep as other speakers its size, it distorts at higher volume levels, and it’s noted as an older design that can’t compete with modern speakers on bass performance and features.
Water resistance and toughness favor the Ranger. The Ranger carries an IP67 rating and pros that call out a genuinely tough build with magnets for mounting, while the Groove variant is only IPX4 and the Heritage Groove variant has no water resistance rating at all. The Ranger’s own cons still flag thuddy bass that isn’t as deep as higher ranked speakers, so this isn’t a blowout on sound.
Buy the Ranger for better water resistance and a tougher, more modern feature set.
Buy the Groove if the retro wood-veneer look is the priority and you’ll mainly use it indoors.

The Two Speakers In Full
Turtlebox Ranger: $250.00 Amazon eBay
Pros: Smoother frequency response than the other Turtlebox speakers. Has magnets for attaching it to things. Appears to be quite tough
Cons: Bass sounds kind of thuddy and isn’t as deep as higher ranked speakers. Overpriced. Heavy for the size, likely due to the toughness

Klipsch Groove: 9.00 Amazon eBay
Pros: Pretty balanced sound in a compact, splash-resistant form factor. IPX4 water resistance and ~8 hour battery life make it durable for outdoor and poolside use. 3-inch high excursion full-range driver paired with dual side-firing passive radiators.
Cons: Not stereo. Bass doesn’t go as deep as class leaders. Distortion sets in at higher output levels. Older Bluetooth 4.0 architecture without app EQ.
