Short answer: the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It ranks #2 of 112 boombox speakers by sound quality, rated 4.5/5, at $179.99; the LG Xboom Stage 301 ranks #36, rated 3.7/5, and costs $229.99, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.
The Tribit Stormbox Blast is the better-sounding, longer-running choice. A boombox with bass and volume that rival bigger party speakers, quite neutral sound, and a 30 hour battery. It is rated for 30 hours of battery against 12 for the LG Xboom Stage 301. It is rated IPX7 against IPX4 for the LG Xboom Stage 301. The catch: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5kHz.
The case for the LG Xboom Stage 301: A wedge shaped karaoke speaker with a swappable battery and multiple standing positions. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Tribit Stormbox Blast lacks. It links with other speakers (Auracast), which the Tribit Stormbox Blast cannot. The tradeoff: overpriced for what it is.
Buy the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It is rated higher for sound quality than the LG Xboom Stage 301 and costs less, which makes it the one to get unless you need something the other one does better.
