Short answer: the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It ranks #2 of 112 boombox speakers by sound quality (rated 4.5/5) at $179.99 and is still sold new; the Demerbox DB2 ranks #74 (rated 2.8/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used.
The Tribit Stormbox Blast is the better-sounding option. A boombox with bass and volume that rival bigger party speakers, quite neutral sound, and a 30 hour battery. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Demerbox DB2 lacks. The catch: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5kHz.
The Demerbox DB2 is the longer-running, lighter choice. A nearly indestructible waterproof speaker built from a Pelican case, with a 40 hour battery and dry storage. It is rated for 40 hours of battery against 30 for the Tribit Stormbox Blast. At 5.4 lbs (2.47 kg) it weighs much less than the Tribit Stormbox Blast at 12 lbs (5.45 kg). The catch: Bass is not as deep as better speakers.
Buy the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Demerbox DB2 is no longer sold new.
