Short answer: the SVS SB-3000 on measured sound quality, the BIC America V1220 on price. The SVS SB-3000 ranks #15 of 212 subwoofers, rated 4.1/5, at $1,149. The BIC America V1220 ranks #66, rated 3.8/5, at $269.57, $879.43 cheaper.
What the SVS SB-3000 does well: A well made sealed subwoofer with tight, accurate bass and handy app controls, great for music and medium rooms. The catch: Being sealed, it gives up deep-bass output: Audioholics measured 96.6dB at 20Hz and 101.7dB at 25Hz, about 15dB behind the ported SVS PB-3000 from the same series, so a large room or reference-level movie bass may call for a second sub.
What the BIC America V1220 does well: A budget ported 12 inch subwoofer with big output and deep bass for the money. Watch for: The cabinet is large at 470 by 432 by 356mm and weighs 41 lbs (18.6 kg), so it needs real floor space.
Buy the SVS SB-3000 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the BIC America V1220 if the price matters more than sound quality.
