The Sovox MiniMax3 is the better-sounding option. A tiny aluminum coaxial monitor with a wide sweet spot, deep bass for its size and placement presets for desk or wall. Watch for: Output tops out around 86dB, with heavy compression and very high distortion as it gets there, so it only suits nearfield listening at modest volume.
What the Monacor SOUND-4BT does well: A compact powered pair with Bluetooth, optical and analog inputs, a remote and a subwoofer output. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Sovox MiniMax3 lacks. Watch for: Predicted in-room response remains uneven despite the modest midrange span.
Buy the Sovox MiniMax3. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Monacor SOUND-4BT is no longer sold new.
