Soundcore Select 4 Go vs Xiaomi Sound Pocket

Short answer: the Select 4 Go, and it is not close. These sit at roughly the same price, but rank #23 and #45 of 47 small speakers, and the Sound Pocket’s own notes explain why it trails so far behind.

The Sound Pocket’s flaws show up specifically at volume, which matters on a speaker this small. Its notes call it bass light with vocals turning harsh above roughly 80% volume, and say it vibrates and walks across hard surfaces when standing upright at higher volume. It also charges slowly, at 3 hours for a 1000mAh battery good for 10 hours of playback. The Select 4 Go’s own con is milder by comparison: it just lacks the bass depth of higher ranked speakers and shows some sibilance on snare and stick transients, without the walking or harshness complaints.

Battery life favors the Select 4 Go by a wide margin: 20 hours against the Sound Pocket’s 10, on a device with a shorter 4 hour charge time.

Everything else is close: both output 5W with a full-range driver design, both carry an IP67 rating, both support Bluetooth 5.4 with TWS stereo pairing, and both charge over USB-C.

Buy the Select 4 Go for the same price and roughly double the battery life, with fewer complaints about how it sounds when you turn it up.

Buy the Sound Pocket only if its smaller 200g, 3.6 inch body is a hard requirement over the Select 4 Go’s slightly larger 265g footprint.

The Xiaomi Sound Pocket is not a sound-quality pick. It sits near the bottom of the 47 small speakers; there are better options higher up.

Pros: A genuinely pocketable 200g speaker with IP67 protection, USB-C charging, speakerphone capability and TWS pairing. Independent listening finds it surprisingly loud and clear for hotel rooms, patios and travel, with acceptable sound at moderate volume.

Cons: Its 5W driver has little real bass, and vocals can become harsh as volume rises beyond roughly 80%. When upright on a hard surface it can vibrate or walk around, and the claimed 10-hour battery life applies only at modest volume; full recharging is slow at around three hours.
