Tribit Stormbox Micro 3 vs Soundcore Select 4 Go

Short answer: the Tribit Stormbox Micro 3, unless the price gap is the deciding factor. It ranks #6 of 50 small portable speakers against the Select 4 Go’s #24, and the difference shows up directly in the sound.

Bass is the real dividing line. The Stormbox Micro 3’s notes call out deeper bass than its predecessor, though it can turn thuddy and distorted by default and needs an EQ pass to tame. The Select 4 Go’s notes are more blunt: not as deep of bass as higher ranked speakers, and it doesn’t get very loud before sound quality drops, with some sibilance showing up on snare and stick transients. Both speakers have real weaknesses, but the Tribit’s is fixable with EQ while the Soundcore’s is a ceiling on output.

Buy the Tribit Stormbox Micro 3 if you want the better measured sound quality and don’t mind spending a bit more.

Buy the Soundcore Select 4 Go if price is the priority and you can live with a speaker that tops out earlier on volume.
