Short answer: the Soundcore Motion 300 for sound quality, the Soundcore 3 for battery life and price. The Motion 300 ranks #2 of 157 medium speakers at $79.99. The Select 2 ranks #62 at $59.99, $20 cheaper.
The Motion 300’s sound quality depends on a bit of setup. Out of the box it’s noticeably rolled off in the treble, and our notes say it needs the top two treble bands pushed up (or a third-party EQ preset) to sound as good as its ranking suggests. Once corrected, it delivers pretty deep bass for its small size and lets you set a different custom EQ for standing, lying flat, or hanging orientations, since it can run in stereo facing you or omnidirectional lying flat. Its notes also flag that Bassup mode sounds worse than the default Signature mode, and that it isn’t quite as detailed or neutral as the very top speakers, with a little bass distortion at high volume.
The Select 2 doesn’t need any of that tuning, it’s just simpler and less capable. Its own notes describe a little less bass than similarly sized speakers, but nothing that needs correcting to sound as intended. In exchange for the lower ranking, it’s smaller, lighter, and rated for roughly 24 hours of battery life against the Motion 300’s 13 hours.
Everything else favors the Motion 300 on paper: LDAC codec support versus SBC only, a built-in microphone, a higher IPX7-rated max volume of 101dB versus 99dB, and deeper bass extension at 50Hz versus 60Hz. Both support Soundcore’s PartyCast linking and IPX7 water resistance.
Buy the Soundcore Motion 300 if you’re willing to spend a few minutes in the app adjusting EQ, since the underlying hardware measures far better once you do.
Buy the Soundcore 3 if you want a smaller, longer-lasting speaker that sounds fine straight out of the box without any tuning.

Soundcore Motion 300: $79.99 Amazon eBay
Older model: the Soundcore Motion+ (ranked lower, rated 4.4/5).
Pros: Pretty deep bass for the small size. Pocket size in a big pocket. Can be used in stereo facing you, or omnidirectional lying down. Ability to have a custom EQ for each orientation, standing, lying flat, hanging. Try the Uboom L EQs from Oluv for a more neutral sound. Measured bass extension of 50Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Without the above EQ or turning the top 2 treble EQ bars to max, this speaker is very rolled off in the treble and will rank around #50 in the rankings. Bassup mode is worse than Signature. Not quite as detailed or neutral as higher ranked speakers. Slight bass distortion when turned up.
