Short answer: the Soundcore Motion 300. It ranks #3 of 175 medium speakers by sound quality, rated 4.5/5, at $79.99. The Soundcore 2 ranks #106, rated 3.0/5, at $29.99, $50 cheaper, which does not close the gap in sound quality.
The Motion 300 is one of the best-sounding speakers its size. Two 2-inch drivers and two passive radiators give it pretty deep bass, reaching 50Hz before falling 10dB, and it plays in stereo facing you or spreads sound around the room lying flat. Its 9-band EQ saves a setting for each position. Out of the box its treble is very rolled off, so raise the top two EQ bands or use a community EQ.
The Soundcore 2 is a basic budget speaker. It also plays in stereo, claims 24 hours of battery against the Motion 300’s 13, keeps an aux input and weighs 0.7 lbs (318 g). But Soundcore rates it only down to 70Hz, it has no app or EQ, and it still charges over Micro USB. The Motion 300 also adds LDAC and AAC and PartyCast linking.
Buy the Soundcore Motion 300. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $50 saving on the Soundcore 2 is not enough to make up the difference.

Pros: Pretty deep bass for the small size. Pocket size in a big pocket. Can be used in stereo facing you, or omnidirectional lying down. Ability to have a custom EQ for each orientation, standing, lying flat, hanging. Try the Uboom L EQs from Oluv for a more neutral sound. Beat the Marshall Stockwell III in Alan Ross’s live A/B. Measured bass extension of 50Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Without the above EQ or turning the top 2 treble EQ bars to max, this speaker is very rolled off in the treble and will rank around #50 in the rankings. Bassup mode is worse than Signature. Not quite as detailed or neutral as higher ranked speakers. Slight bass distortion when turned up.
