Short answer: the Motion 300, and it costs less too. It ranks #79 of 142 medium speakers against the ULT Field 1’s #2, and it is $18.01 cheaper.
The Motion 300 has real bass depth for its size, but its stock tuning has a catch. Our notes call it pretty deep bass for a small speaker, with the flexibility to run in stereo facing you or lying flat for omnidirectional sound, each with its own custom EQ. The catch our notes flag: without applying an EQ, or manually pushing the top two treble bars to max, the stock tuning is quite rolled off in the treble and drops to around the middle of the pack. With the EQ applied, it is one of the better sounding speakers in its class.
The ULT Field 1’s main strength is durability and battery, not sound. Our notes credit it with an IP67 rating that survives drops and 1-meter submersion, plus a real-world battery life north of 28 hours with its bass-boost ULT mode switched off. On sound, its only real weakness is an upper-midrange peak with rolled-off treble, a milder issue than what the Motion 300 needs an EQ to fix.
Everything else is close: both have a companion app, a built-in microphone, USB-C charging, and support for their respective 100-speaker party modes.
Buy the Motion 300 if you’re willing to apply the EQ our notes recommend. Once tuned, it beats the ULT Field 1 on sound and costs less.
Buy the ULT Field 1 if you want strong stereo pairing and long battery life. It is more consistent out of the box even though its ceiling is lower.

Soundcore Motion 300: $79.99 Amazon eBay
Pros: Pretty deep bass for the small size. Pocket size in a big pocket. Can be used in stereo facing you, or omnidirectional lying down. Ability to have a custom EQ for each orientation, standing, lying flat, hanging. Try the Uboom L EQs from Oluv for a more neutral sound. Measured bass extension of 50Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Without the above EQ or turning the top 2 treble EQ bars to max, this speaker is very rolled off in the treble and will rank around #50 in the rankings. Bassup mode is worse than Signature. Not quite as detailed or neutral as higher ranked speakers. Slight bass distortion when turned up.
