Short answer: both are discontinued, so this only matters if you are buying used. Used, the Sony SRS-XP700 is the better pick: it ranks #14 of 44 party speakers by sound quality (rated 4.0/5), against #30 (rated 3.1/5) for the Soundboks Go. If you want one new, the Sony ULT Tower 7 ranks #1 at $648.
The Sony SRS-XP700 is the better-sounding choice. Dual 6.69” woofers, multi-tweeter X-Balanced Speaker Units with rear tweeter for 360 effect. It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Soundboks Go lacks. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Soundboks Go lacks. The tradeoff: Weird midrange peak.
The Soundboks Go is the longer-running, lighter pick. Exceptional 40-hour battery life at mid-volume (10 hours at full volume), swappable design (second battery $200 available). It is rated for 40 hours of battery against 25 for the Sony SRS-XP700. At 19.8 lbs (9 kg) it weighs much less than the Sony SRS-XP700 at 37.3 lbs (16.9 kg). The tradeoff: Not as loud as the other Soundboks.
Buy the Sony SRS-XP700 only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, start with the Sony ULT Tower 7 instead.
