If you want one new, the Sony ULT Tower 7 ranks #1 at $548. The Sharp PS-929 has been replaced by the Sharp XParty Sing PS-931.
The Sony SRS-XP700 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass choice. A discontinued party speaker with punchy bass, a long battery, splash resistance and karaoke inputs, worth buying used. Its bass reaches about 50Hz before falling 10dB, against 60Hz for the Sharp PS-929. It is rated for 25 hours of battery against 13 for the Sharp PS-929. It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Sharp PS-929 lacks. The catch: Weird midrange peak.
The Sharp PS-929 is the lighter choice. A battery party speaker with two woofers, a Super Bass button, lights, mic and guitar inputs, and a wired mic included. At 19 lbs (8.6 kg) it weighs much less than the Sony SRS-XP700 at 37.3 lbs (16.9 kg). The catch: Bass extension is only about 60Hz at -10dB, so it lacks deep bass.
Buy the Sony SRS-XP700 only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, start with the Sony ULT Tower 7 instead.
