Sonus Faber Sonetto V G2 vs Sonus Faber Sonetto II

Last updated: October 8, 2026

These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The Sonus Faber Sonetto V G2 ranks #166 of 188 floorstanding speakers by sound quality at $7,000; the Sonus Faber Sonetto II ranks #173 of 203 bookshelf speakers by sound quality at $2,500.

Sonus Faber Sonetto V G2 vs Sonus Faber Sonetto II

The case for the Sonus Faber Sonetto V G2: A full 3-way Sonetto G2 tower: the 1.1” DAD Arrow Point tweeter, a 6.5” Camelia midrange in its own cork enclosure, and two 6.5” pulp cone woofers (crossovers at 280Hz and 2.5kHz). The catch: No independent measurements yet, so its tonal balance and directivity can’t be compared directly with measured speakers; the rating is estimated from the measured Sonetto II G2, which showed an uneven listening window (a 4.25 Spinorama preference score).

What the Sonus Faber Sonetto II does well: A two-way stand-mount with a 6.5” paper pulp woofer, a 29mm silk dome tweeter and a downward-firing port in Sonus Faber’s curved wood cabinet. The catch: The response is uneven (0.53 on-axis deviation), for a preference score of 3.97 that reaches 5.92 with an ideal subwoofer.

One note: the Sonus Faber Sonetto II is no longer in production and isn’t widely stocked new anymore. The Sonus Faber Sonetto II’s replacement, the Sonus Faber Sonetto II G2, is still sold new.

Buy the Sonus Faber Sonetto V G2 at $7,000 if you want a floorstanding speaker. Buy the Sonus Faber Sonetto II at $2,500 if you want a bookshelf speaker instead.

About the ratings: the Sonus Faber Sonetto V G2’s rating is estimated from measured siblings and predecessors rather than its own measurements, with a likely range of 2.9 to 3.7, so this verdict could change once it is measured.
