Presonus Eris E5 XT vs KEF LSX II LT

Last updated: October 1, 2026

Short answer: the KEF LSX II LT for a wide sweet spot, if you listen at moderate levels. Its Uni-Q-style coaxial driver keeps the tweeter centered in the midrange for wide, consistent dispersion of about +/-60 degrees, though small drivers make it SPL-limited: bass compression begins around 88-92dB/1m per speaker and multitone distortion crosses 3% near 96dB. The Presonus Eris E5 XT has smoother directivity but an uneven on-axis response.

Presonus Eris E5 XT vs KEF LSX II LT

On the Presonus Eris E5 XT side: CEA2034 spinorama shows very smooth, consistent directivity through the crossover region and into the treble, with early reflections tracking the on-axis curve closely. Watch for: On-axis response is uneven, with peaks at both frequency extremes and a dip around the roughly 3kHz crossover, giving a bass-and-treble-heavy tonal balance with the midrange partially recessed.

Buy the KEF LSX II LT. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the Presonus Eris E5 XT is discontinued, so it is only available used.

Newer model: the PreSonus Eris Studio 5. It’s likely to perform similarly, though we don’t have measurements to confirm that yet.

Pros: ASR’s measurements show reasonably consistent directivity through the crossover, so EQ changes are more likely to benefit both direct and reflected sound. Bass reaches -3dB around 56Hz. A standalone preference score of 3.58 rises to 6.00 with an ideal subwoofer, indicating useful bass reach but only moderate native tonal performance. Measured bass extension of 56.4Hz (-3dB).

Cons: The response has bass and treble emphasis with a recessed crossover region; smooth directivity carries that imbalance into room reflections rather than fixing it. Existing distortion testing shows problems across a broad range when pushed to 96dB. Tone correction and moderate levels help, but it is not a reference-flat monitor out of the box. Discontinued.

Pros: The coincident driver provides useful consistency across listening positions, and the app offers placement and subwoofer adjustments. Erin’s measurements give preference scores of 4.81 standalone and 7.03 with an ideal subwoofer, with -3dB bass around 56Hz. HDMI and USB connectivity make it convenient for a small TV or desktop system. Horizontal and vertical dispersion both reach about ±60°, giving a broad sweet spot for more than one seat. Measured bass extension of 55Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 84dB.

Cons: The 3.4dB midrange response span and treble-region dips keep it below more neutral monitors. The existing review finds bass compression around 88-92dB/1m and rising distortion at higher levels, so the small drivers suit close listening rather than a large room. This LT version has no analog input; a turntable cannot plug straight into it.
