Short answer: the Onn Large Party gen 2 is the better value, the Onn XL Wireless Party Speaker is the better equipped one. They rank #11 and #17 of 46 party speakers, and the XL costs $120 more.
Both speakers share the same core driver setup: dual 8 inch woofers plus tweeters. Our notes call the Large Party gen 2 an insane value speaker and note it is a huge improvement over the original gen 1 with much deeper bass, though it isn’t quite as loud as that older model and doesn’t reach the bass depth of the category’s top-ranked speakers. The XL is described in similarly positive terms, an exceptional value in a party speaker, but its own notes flag it as a little bright up top and not quite as well balanced as JBL’s Partybox 330.
Where the XL pulls ahead is included gear. It ships with two wireless microphones versus a wired microphone input only on the Large Party gen 2, plus a control display built into the unit and 5 multicolor LED lighting effects. It is also rated for 16 hours of battery life against 12 for the Large Party gen 2, though it weighs more than twice as much at 44 lbs (20 kg) versus 20.9 lbs (9.5 kg).
What the Large Party gen 2 has instead: a built-in FM tuner and Onn’s Party Sync mode for linking multiple units, neither of which the XL offers.
Buy the Onn Large Party gen 2 if you want the lighter, cheaper option and don’t need wireless microphones or a control display.
Buy the Onn XL Wireless Party Speaker if the included wireless mics, longer battery life, and lighting effects are worth the extra $120 to you.

The Two Speakers In Full
Onn XL Wireless Party Speaker: $249.00 Walmart $249.00 eBay
Pros: A compelling all-in-one party and karaoke package: dual 8-inch woofers, 240W claimed output, two included wireless microphones, dual mic/guitar inputs, karaoke effects and USB-A phone charging. It plays loudly enough for backyard use and has punchy bass; owners especially like the wheels, telescoping handle and colorful light effects. At 44 lb it is still a substantial cabinet, but the trolley design makes moving it far easier than carrying it.
Cons: Sound favors punch and a forward/bright top end over refinement. Independent comparisons and owner reports find the bass less deep and the overall balance less satisfying than the JBL PartyBox 320; several consider the far-cheaper Onn Large Party gen 2 the better sound-per-dollar buy. Some owners report distortion or static at high volume, and a few report wireless-mic pairing/dropout problems. Large (30 inches tall, 44 lb) and only IPX4 splash-resistant, not a speaker to leave out in rain.

Onn Large Party gen 2: $129 Walmart $129 eBay
Older model: the Onn Large Party gen 1 (ranked lower, rated 2.7/5). See every Onn Large Party generation.
Pros: A remarkably full-featured, manageable 9.5kg party speaker: wheels and handle, FM radio, aux, USB-A charging, mic and guitar inputs with karaoke echo, and Party Sync. Independent testing confirms bass with real impact and enough output for a large room; it is a clear improvement over the Gen 1 for low-end weight.
Cons: The low price shows in the refinement. Consumer Reports found boomy bass, hazy/grainy mids, a prominent smeared treble and a narrow, two-dimensional soundfield; it also notes distortion or other audio issues. There is no app or EQ to tame the tuning, and IPX4 only covers splashes rather than rain or immersion.
