Short answer: the XL Wireless Party Speaker. It ranks #11 of 46 party speakers against the Large Party gen 1’s #34, and the gen 1’s own review notes say it was “replaced by the Onn Large Party gen 2, which is a big improvement all around and the one you should buy,” so the gen 1 isn’t even the Onn model to consider at this price point.
The power gap is real. The XL runs 240W through dual 8” woofers and dual 2” tweeters, while the Large Party gen 1 is rated at 80W RMS / 160W peak from a single 8” woofer. The gen 1’s own cons list backs up what that power difference sounds like in practice: bass that isn’t deep, midrange peaks, a boxy character at higher volumes, and distortion when pushed hard.
Karaoke and outdoor use favor the XL as well. It includes two wireless microphones and a dedicated guitar input alongside its two mic inputs, plus an IPX4 splash rating the gen 1 doesn’t have at all. The gen 1 does have a microphone/guitar jack and FM radio, but no wireless mics are included and there’s no water resistance.
What the gen 1 still has: true wireless stereo pairing and Onn’s Party Sync Mode for linking multiple speakers, both missing from the XL’s spec sheet, plus a lighter 23.1 lbs (10.5 kg) body versus the XL’s 44 lbs (20 kg).
Buy the Onn XL Wireless Party Speaker for real party-speaker output, included wireless microphones, and splash resistance, all for $149 more than the gen 1’s original price.
Buy the Onn Large Party gen 1 only if you find one used for close to nothing; otherwise its own review points you to the gen 2 or the XL instead.

Pros: A compelling all-in-one party and karaoke package: dual 8-inch woofers, 240W claimed output, two included wireless microphones, dual mic/guitar inputs, karaoke effects and USB-A phone charging. It plays loudly enough for backyard use and has punchy bass; owners especially like the wheels, telescoping handle and colorful light effects. At 44 lb it is still a substantial cabinet, but the trolley design makes moving it far easier than carrying it.
Cons: Sound favors punch and a forward/bright top end over refinement. Independent comparisons and owner reports find the bass less deep and the overall balance less satisfying than the JBL PartyBox 320; several consider the far-cheaper Onn Large Party gen 2 the better sound-per-dollar buy. Some owners report distortion or static at high volume, and a few report wireless-mic pairing/dropout problems. Large (30 inches tall, 44 lb) and only IPX4 splash-resistant, not a speaker to leave out in rain.

Newer model: the Onn Large Party gen 2, ranked higher, rated 3.9/5, released May 2023. It drops stereo pairing. Water resistance goes from no IP rating to IPX4. See every Onn Large Party generation.
Pros: A genuinely useful feature set for a compact party speaker: FM radio, 3.5mm aux, USB-A phone charging, a mic/guitar input, lights, and Party Sync pairing. Its rolling 10.5kg cabinet, carry handle and claimed 13-hour battery make it easy to take to casual outdoor gatherings, and it can play louder than a typical small Bluetooth speaker. Measured bass extension of ~60Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Sound is not a strong reason to seek one out. Reviewer comparisons find limited deep bass (about 60Hz at -10dB), uneven mids and a boxy, strained presentation at high volume. It has no app or EQ, no water rating, and is discontinued; the newer Onn Large Party gen 2 is the more sensible choice when available.
