Short answer: the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt. Both are rated 3.2/5 for sound quality (#46 and #47 of 73 subwoofers), and the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt costs $224.99 against $497 for the Sonos Sub Mini, with sound quality a draw, the lower price decides it.
The case for the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt: A low cost ported 8 inch subwoofer with a 200 watt amp, an easy entry point for a first subwoofer. The tradeoff: Very compact 18.5 lbs (8.4 kg) size, limited 106.4 dB output, ported room interaction, and entry-level build.
Why pick the Sonos Sub Mini: A small, light sealed subwoofer with two 6 inch drivers that adds upper bass support in a modest room. The catch: Deep-bass output is limited relative to its midbass result, so it is not the right choice for the lowest movie effects.
Buy the Monoprice Premium Select 8in 200-Watt. Both are rated the same for sound quality, and it costs $272.01 less than the Sonos Sub Mini.
