Short answer: the Minirig 2 for flexibility, the Sony ULT Field 3 for a cheap IP67 shell. The Minirig 2 is modular and can easily attach a subwoofer, though it is not stereo. The Sony is IP67 rated and water resistant but sounds a bit hollow with boosted treble, and it ranks #71 of 179 against #9 of 179 for the Minirig.
Buy the Minirig 4, the replacement for the discontinued Minirig 2; it is rated higher for sound quality than the Sony ULT Field 3.
Battery life favors the Minirig 2: rated for 40 hours against 24 hours for the Sony ULT Field 3.
If water resistance matters to you, the Sony ULT Field 3 at IP67 (brief submersion) holds up far better than the Minirig 2 at Splash resistant (splashing).
