Short answer: the Bose Soundlink Flex, if you are buying new. The Minirig 2 ranks higher than it (#9 vs #38 of 164 medium speakers, 4.3/5 vs 3.8/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the Bose Soundlink Flex is still sold new at $79.99.
The Minirig 2 is the better-sounding, longer-running choice. Modular, can easily attach a subwoofer. It is rated for 40 hours of battery against 12 for the Bose Soundlink Flex. It supports aptX Bluetooth, which the Bose Soundlink Flex lacks. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Bose Soundlink Flex lacks. The catch: Calls itself splash resistant and has no official water rating.
The Bose Soundlink Flex is the tougher choice. IP67 rated; rugged enough to survive drops from several feet and floats. It is rated IP67 against Splash resistant for the Minirig 2. Watch for: Warm sounding with overly boosted bass which drowns out midrange detail.
Buy the Bose Soundlink Flex new; the Minirig 2 is no longer sold new, so it only makes sense as a used find.
