Short answer: the Onn Portable FM Boombox. It ranks #26 of 115 large speakers by sound quality, rated 4.2/5, at $74.83; the Marshall Middleton II ranks #31, rated 4.1/5, and costs $279.99, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.
The Marshall Middleton II is the longer-running option. A waterproof stereo speaker with very deep bass for its size, a long battery, a power bank and an app EQ. It is rated for 30 hours of battery against 16 for the Onn Portable FM Boombox. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Onn Portable FM Boombox lacks. The tradeoff: Bass boosted which drowns out the midrange.
Why pick the Onn Portable FM Boombox: An excellent value waterproof boombox that floats, with reasonably deep bass, FM radio, lights and a long battery. The tradeoff: Reasonable frequency response, but not quite as smooth as some of the top-ranked speakers in this size.
Buy the Onn Portable FM Boombox. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Marshall Middleton II and costs less, so it is the default pick unless a specific strength of the other one matters more to you.
