Kali Audio LP-6 vs ADAM Audio T5V

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Short answer: the Kali Audio LP-6 V2, if you are buying new. The Kali Audio LP-6 ranks higher than the ADAM Audio T5V (#55 vs #38 of 105 powered bookshelf speakers) but is discontinued; its replacement, the Kali Audio LP-6 V2, is rated 4.4/5 at $498 and is still sold new.

Kali Audio LP-6 vs ADAM Audio T5V

The Kali Audio LP-6 is the deeper-bass pick. The original LP-6 measures 43.9Hz at -3dB and scores 6.33 with an ideal subwoofer. Its bass reaches about 43.9Hz before falling 3dB, against 58.6Hz for the ADAM Audio T5V. The tradeoff: The measured 2.9dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz is less even than the newer Kali Audio LP-6 V2.

The case for the ADAM Audio T5V: ASR’s data shows a small 2.0dB span from 300Hz to 5kHz, a -3dB point around 59Hz, and scores of 4.65 standalone and 7.02 with an ideal subwoofer. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Kali Audio LP-6 lacks. Watch for: The response rises toward the treble by about 0.56dB per octave, so the small midrange span should not be mistaken for flat full-band response.

Buy the Kali Audio LP-6 V2, the replacement for the discontinued Kali Audio LP-6; it is rated higher for sound quality than the ADAM Audio T5V.

Frequency Response Compared

Both speakers’ spinorama measurements, overlaid. A flatter line is more neutral: peaks sound forward or harsh, dips sound recessed. Each curve is shifted so its average from 300 Hz to 3 kHz sits at 0 dB, so loudness differences between the two are removed and only the shape is compared.

Newer model: the Kali Audio LP-6 V2, ranked higher, rated 4.4/5, released Nov 2021. See every Kali Audio LP generation.

Same family: the Kali Audio LP-8 (larger bookshelf, ranked lower, rated 3.9/5).

Pros: The original LP-6 measures 43.9Hz at -3dB and scores 6.33 with an ideal subwoofer. Its waveguide and placement controls make it a credible budget studio monitor, with useful bass for ordinary music listening. Measured bass extension of 43.9Hz (-3dB).

Cons: The measured 2.9dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz is less even than the newer Kali Audio LP-6 V2. First-generation amplifier hiss can be distracting at short distances. Do not assume the V2’s noise improvements or measurements apply to this model. A port resonance adds bumps around 900Hz to 1kHz. Discontinued.

ADAM Audio T5V ranking card

Same family: the ADAM Audio T7V (larger bookshelf, rated 3.9/5) and the ADAM Audio T8V (larger bookshelf, rated 3.9/5).

Pros: ASR’s data shows a small 2.0dB span from 300Hz to 5kHz, a -3dB point around 59Hz, and scores of 4.65 standalone and 7.02 with an ideal subwoofer. It offers useful bass and midrange performance for an affordable studio monitor. Rear tonal trims allow broad placement adjustment. Measured bass extension of 58.6Hz (-3dB).

Cons: The response rises toward the treble by about 0.56dB per octave, so the small midrange span should not be mistaken for flat full-band response. Upper-frequency unevenness remains, and a shelving control cannot precisely remove every peak. The existing review finds distortion reasonable for the price rather than reference-class; deeper bass and demanding levels still call for more capable hardware.
