JBL Xtreme 3 vs Soundcore Boom 2 Pro

Last updated: October 11, 2026

These are not really the same size class, and that is the honest framing here. The JBL Xtreme 3 ranks #18 of 105 large speakers by sound quality at $269.95; the Soundcore Boom 2 Pro ranks #38 of 98 boombox speakers by sound quality at $139.99.

JBL Xtreme 3 vs Soundcore Boom 2 Pro

The JBL Xtreme 3 is the lighter option. Better treble and deeper bass than the JBL Xtreme 2. At 4 lbs (1.83 kg) it weighs much less than the Soundcore Boom 2 Pro at 8.4 lbs (3.8 kg). The catch: Boosted bass.

The Soundcore Boom 2 Pro is the longer-running option. A tougher version of the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus with IP68 dust and water protection instead of IPX7, a metal front grille, and a body that floats. It is rated for 20 hours of battery against 15 for the JBL Xtreme 3. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the JBL Xtreme 3 lacks. It has an adjustable EQ, which the JBL Xtreme 3 lacks. The tradeoff: No side-by-side sound comparisons yet, so its rating is estimated from the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus, which shares its drivers and amplifier.

Buy the JBL Xtreme 3 at $269.95 for a large speaker, or the Soundcore Boom 2 Pro at $139.99 for a boombox speaker instead.

Worth knowing: the Soundcore Boom 2 Pro has not been measured yet. Its rating is estimated from related models, with a likely range of 3.4 to 3.8, so treat this verdict as provisional.

Soundcore Boom 2 Pro ranking card

Pros: A tougher version of the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus with IP68 dust and water protection instead of IPX7, a metal front grille, and a body that floats. Inside it is the same 140W design with two woofers and two tweeters for real stereo, plenty of bass with BassUp, a 9 band app EQ, aux input, a detachable shoulder strap, a 10W USB-C power bank and PartyCast for linking more speakers.

Cons: No side-by-side sound comparisons yet, so its rating is estimated from the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus, which shares its drivers and amplifier. That means the same warm stock tuning with upper bass boost and a dip from the upper mids into the treble that dulls vocals, and owners say it needs EQ. Reviewers found it loses fullness and gets a bit fatiguing at its very highest volume.
