The Tufton’s case is a 3-way design covering the full frequency range in 360 degrees, with a 20-hour battery and quick-charge support. Our notes describe real tonal problems: not much lower bass, boomy upper bass, boosted treble, and a very low IPX2 water rating.
The Xtreme 3 has its own real flaws, boosted bass and less balance than the best in its class, but it’s the far more capable speaker for the money, and our notes call it more balanced than the Xtreme 4 that replaced it.
Buy the Xtreme 3. It costs less and measures meaningfully better than the Tufton.
