JBL Partybox 720 vs JBL Partybox 300

Last updated: October 5, 2026

These are not really the same size class, and that is the honest framing here. The JBL Partybox 720 ranks #5 of 13 large party speakers by sound quality at $1,099.95; the JBL Partybox 300 ranks #10 of 44 party speakers by sound quality at $300.

JBL Partybox 720 vs JBL Partybox 300

The JBL Partybox 720 is the tougher choice. JBL’s most powerful battery-equipped PartyBox combines 800W output, two removable batteries, wheels, a light show, Auracast, USB-C playback, app EQ and karaoke/guitar inputs. It is rated IPX4, while the JBL Partybox 300 has no water resistance. It links with other speakers (Auracast), which the JBL Partybox 300 cannot. It has an adjustable EQ, which the JBL Partybox 300 lacks. The tradeoff: At 68.3 lbs (31 kg) and 94cm tall, it is still cumbersome despite the wheels.

The JBL Partybox 300 is the lighter choice. Exceptional sound quality with crisp, crystal clear highs and midranges, hard punchy bass without muddiness. At 35.3 lbs (16 kg) it weighs much less than the JBL Partybox 720 at 68.3 lbs (31 kg). The tradeoff: Hard to carry, too tall, drags on the ground.

Worth knowing: the JBL Partybox 300 is discontinued, though it still ranks #10 of 44 party speakers by sound quality, so a used unit beats most of what is still sold new.

Buy the JBL Partybox 720 at $1,099.95 if you want a large party speaker. Buy the JBL Partybox 300 at $300 if you want a party speaker instead.

Older model: the JBL Partybox 710 (ranked lower, rated 4.7/5).

Pros: JBL’s most powerful battery-equipped PartyBox combines 800W output, two removable batteries, wheels, a light show, Auracast, USB-C playback, app EQ and karaoke/guitar inputs. Independent testing confirms very high output, strong bass and a flexible 5- or 7-band EQ; it can easily cover a backyard or large event.

Cons: At 31kg and 94cm tall, it is still cumbersome despite the wheels. Its front-facing vertical driver layout gives uneven sound to listeners at the sides or behind it, bass compresses at very high volume and reviewers note a faint hiss. The default is dark/bass-heavy, so use the app EQ and do not expect a neutral indoor hi-fi speaker.

Newer model: the JBL Partybox 330, ranked higher, rated 4.6/5.

Pros: Exceptional sound quality with crisp, crystal clear highs and midranges, hard punchy bass without muddiness. 2x 6.5” woofers + 3x 2.25” tweeters, bass boost function, 45Hz-20kHz frequency range. 18-hour battery with 10400mAh capacity. Multiple inputs (RCA, USB, 3.5mm aux, mic, guitar). LED light modes (meter/pulse/party). True Wireless Stereo pairing up to 2 units. Measured bass extension of 40Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Hard to carry, too tall, drags on the ground. Max spl and bass extension are only as good as the Partybox 100. No real reason to ever get one, get a Partybox 100 instead. Discontinued.
