JBL Partybox 720 vs JBL Partybox 100

Last updated: October 5, 2026

These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The JBL Partybox 720 ranks #5 of 13 large party speakers by sound quality at $1,099.95; the JBL Partybox 100 ranks #8 of 44 party speakers by sound quality at $499.99.

JBL Partybox 720 vs JBL Partybox 100

The JBL Partybox 720 is the tougher choice. JBL’s most powerful battery-equipped PartyBox combines 800W output, two removable batteries, wheels, a light show, Auracast, USB-C playback, app EQ and karaoke/guitar inputs. It is rated IPX4, while the JBL Partybox 100 has no water resistance. It links with other speakers (Auracast), which the JBL Partybox 100 cannot. It has an adjustable EQ, which the JBL Partybox 100 lacks. The tradeoff: At 68.3 lbs (31 kg) and 94cm tall, it is still cumbersome despite the wheels.

The JBL Partybox 100 is the lighter option. Quite neutral sound, pretty deep bass. At 21.4 lbs (9.7 kg) it weighs much less than the JBL Partybox 720 at 68.3 lbs (31 kg). The catch: A slight peak in the upper mids.

One note: the JBL Partybox 100 is discontinued, but it still ranks #8 of 44 party speakers by sound quality, ahead of most of what is still sold new, so it is worth considering used.

Buy the JBL Partybox 720 ($1,099.95) for a large party speaker; the JBL Partybox 100 ($499.99) suits a party speaker instead.

JBL Partybox 720 ranking card

Older model: the JBL Partybox 710 (ranked lower, rated 4.7/5).

Pros: JBL’s most powerful battery-equipped PartyBox combines 800W output, two removable batteries, wheels, a light show, Auracast, USB-C playback, app EQ and karaoke/guitar inputs. Independent testing confirms very high output, strong bass and a flexible 5- or 7-band EQ; it can easily cover a backyard or large event.

Cons: At 31kg and 94cm tall, it is still cumbersome despite the wheels. Its front-facing vertical driver layout gives uneven sound to listeners at the sides or behind it, bass compresses at very high volume and reviewers note a faint hiss. The default is dark/bass-heavy, so use the app EQ and do not expect a neutral indoor hi-fi speaker.

Newer model: the JBL Partybox Club 120, ranked higher, rated 4.5/5.

Pros: Quite neutral sound, pretty deep bass. Measured bass extension of 41Hz (-10dB).

Cons: A slight peak in the upper mids. Slight TWS issue where the 2nd is slightly delayed. Just as loud and slightly deeper bass than a Stormbox Blast which is way smaller with better sound quality. Discontinued.
