The JBL Partybox 310 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass pick. Absolute deepest bass of any battery powered speaker, most balanced sound in the class, handle and wheels are convenient. Its bass reaches about 32Hz before falling 10dB, against 55Hz for the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom. It is rated IPX4, while the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom has no water resistance. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom lacks.
The Ultimate Ears Hyperboom is the longer-running, lighter choice. Strong audio performance with 2x 4.5” woofers, 2x 1” tweeters, 2x passive radiators. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 18 for the JBL Partybox 310. At 13 lbs (5.9 kg) it weighs much less than the JBL Partybox 310 at 37.5 lbs (17 kg). It links with other speakers (PartyUp up to 50 speakers), which the JBL Partybox 310 cannot. The catch: Very expensive for what it does, a bit dull and muddy sound.
Buy the JBL Partybox 330, the replacement for the discontinued JBL Partybox 310; it is rated higher for sound quality than the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom.
