The JBL Grip is the lighter option. A small, fully waterproof speaker with app EQ, ambient lighting, Auracast linking and USB-C audio input. At 0.8 lbs (385 g) it weighs much less than the Beats Pill 2024 at 1.5 lbs (680 g). It has an adjustable EQ, which the Beats Pill 2024 lacks. The catch: Lacking deeper bass, definitely the worst of the JBL line until you get to the smaller clip.
The Beats Pill 2024 is the deeper-bass, longer-running option. A compact waterproof speaker with long battery life, fast charging, a power bank port and stereo pairing. Its bass reaches about 56Hz before falling 10dB, against 68Hz for the JBL Grip. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 14 for the JBL Grip. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the JBL Grip lacks. The tradeoff: Boosted upper bass, somewhat thuddy.
Buy the Beats Pill 2024. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $30 you would save on the JBL Grip does not close the gap.
