JBL Clip 4 vs Tribit Stormbox Micro 2

Last updated: August 8, 2026

Short answer: the Stormbox Micro 2, and it’s the class leader. It ranks #1 of 47 small speakers at $50; the Clip 4 ranks #22 at $59.95, ten dollars more for a much weaker placement.

The Clip 4’s real strength is the clip itself, not the sound. Our notes praise the sturdy spring clip and how light it is at 0.4 lb, useful for attaching to a bag or belt. Its cons are direct: quite a lack of bass, and it isn’t very loud.

The Micro 2 wins on the numbers that matter for sound. Best in class according to our notes, with much deeper bass than most speakers its size and a genuinely neutral tuning, plus a built-in strap that does double duty as a stand.

Buy the Stormbox Micro 2. It’s the better speaker, the class leader, and cheaper besides. The Clip 4 only makes sense if the belt clip specifically is the feature you need.

Pros: Best in class sound. Much deeper bass than most other speakers in the size. Built in strap is super useful for attaching it to things. Very neutral. To have it aimed directly at you unclip the strap and the speaker will sit upright with a slight lean back.

Cons: Finicky phone charging, which doesn’t usually work.

Setup: Use in Music EQ mode, when you switch to custom it’s not able to boost the bass properly as it is missing an EQ band that Music EQ mode uses
