The Boombox 4 measured about 115dB with bass to about 41Hz, is IP68, and claims 28 hours from a removable battery. Use the Oluv EQ linked on its page, since the stock tuning sounds worse than the Boombox 3.
The Stockwell III sounds muffled by default with boomy bass, and turns harsh well below maximum volume. It offers over 40 hours of claimed battery, a replaceable battery, an aux input and a parametric app EQ.
Buy the JBL Boombox 4 at $429.95 if you want a boombox speaker. Buy the Marshall Stockwell III at $249.99 if you want a large speaker instead.
Water resistance is not close: the JBL Boombox 4 is rated at IP68 (extended submersion), well ahead of the Marshall Stockwell III at IP55 (water jets).

Older models: the JBL Boombox 3 (rated 3.8/5), the JBL Boombox 2 (rated 3.5/5) and the JBL Boombox (rated 2.9/5).
Pros: Pretty insane output capability for the size. IP68 protection and Auracast pairing with other current JBL speakers. Measured bass extension of 41Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Pretty overpriced for the category. Better than the Boombox 3 mostly because there are more 7 EQ bands instead of just 3 and it can be better tuned. Try Oluv’s EQ for it. Out of the box sounds worse than the Boombox 3. No Aux input.

Marshall Stockwell III: $249.99 Marshall eBay
Older model: the Marshall Stockwell II (rated 4.5/5).
Pros: 40+ hour battery life with a user-replaceable battery, strap, sleeve and grilles. Doubles as a USB-C power bank. IP55 dust/water resistance. App includes parametric EQ, a Soundstage widening control, and wall/corner placement compensation. Endless-rotation control knobs.
Cons: Highs are recessed by default and need the treble control maxed to compensate, still lacking detail even then. Bass tends to sound resonant and boomy, with reported frequency cancellation and phase issues on complex material that EQ doesn’t fully resolve. Oluv’s A/B testing against the outgoing Stockwell II finds the default tuning muffled and muddy enough to prefer the seven-year-old original out of the box, and output loses dynamics and bass while turning harsh well below maximum volume. No aptX support.
