Sony’s own comparison point undersells the gap. The ULT Field 7’s pros only claim it sounds better than its own predecessor, the XG500, without addressing how it stacks up against the rest of the class. Its cons are direct: still not as deep bass as the top-ranked speakers, plus a peak at 8kHz.
The Boombox 3 wins on battery too. Sony rates 30 hours against JBL’s own 24, so that’s one real edge for the ULT Field 7, alongside the same IP67 rating both share.
Buy the Boombox 3 for the higher ranking at essentially the same price. Buy the ULT Field 7 if the extra battery life specifically matters more to you than the ranking gap.
