Harman Kardon Citation 200 vs Teufel Rockster Cross

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Short answer: the Harman Kardon Citation 200. It ranks #13 of 77 large speakers by sound quality at $130; the Teufel Rockster Cross ranks #21 and costs $199.99, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

The case for the Harman Kardon Citation 200: Deeper bass than any Onyx. Set against that: Overly boomy by default, you can short press the Bluetooth and volume down buttons simultaneously to decrease the bass, and the Bluetooth and volume up buttons simultaneously to increase it.

What the Teufel Rockster Cross gets right: Pretty neutral frequency response. More vocal/midrange-focused than the JBL Xtreme 4, thanks to a larger mid/bass driver - better suited to rock and jazz. The tradeoff: Outdoor mode can sound somewhat harsh due to the 4khz peak. Not as deep or full-sounding in the bass as the JBL Xtreme 4.

Buy the Harman Kardon Citation 200. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Teufel Rockster Cross and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.

If battery life is a priority, the Teufel Rockster Cross is rated for 16 hours versus 8 hours for the Harman Kardon Citation 200.

Pros: Pretty neutral frequency response. More vocal/midrange-focused than the JBL Xtreme 4, thanks to a larger mid/bass driver - better suited to rock and jazz. Nicer upper-bass detail than the JBL Xtreme 4. Punchy, well-controlled bass that suits rock music, unlike the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus’s overboosted, uncontrolled bass even at stock tuning. Clear, detailed audio with good vocal presence and solid Bluetooth codec support even a couple years after release.

Cons: Outdoor mode can sound somewhat harsh due to the 4khz peak. Not as deep or full-sounding in the bass as the JBL Xtreme 4.
