Last updated: October 11, 2026

These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5 ranks #21 of 28 powered desktop speakers by sound quality at $295.99; the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 ranks #3 of 98 boombox speakers by sound quality at $385.

Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5 vs Harman Kardon Go + Play 3

The case for the Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5: Proper 3-way design with a 143mm subwoofer, six midrange drivers and a dedicated tweeter, rated to 45Hz at -6dB, so it fills a room evenly with real low end. It links with other speakers (Auracast), which the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 cannot. The catch: Mains powered home speaker with no battery, no aux input and no Wi-Fi streaming in this version.

Why pick the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3: Warm sound with boosted bass. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5 lacks. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5 lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5. Watch for: Just a little over half as loud as the higher rated boomboxes.

Buy the Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5 at $295.99 if you want a powered desktop speaker. Buy the Harman Kardon Go + Play 3 at $385 if you want a boombox speaker instead.

Worth knowing: the Harman Kardon Aura Studio 5 has not been measured yet. Its rating is estimated from related models, with a likely range of 3.1 to 3.8, so treat this verdict as provisional.
