Short answer: the Genelec 8361A is the bigger, costlier monitor; the Focal Alpha 65 EVO is the neutral nearfield value. The 8361A’s three-way coaxial design pairs a 5” mid-range and inset 1” metal dome tweeter with two 10” front-loaded woofers, but it costs about $10,900 and its GLM room correction was not used in this review. The Focal is very neutral with better soundstage and instrument definition than the HS8, though it ignores sub-bass.
What the Focal Alpha 65 EVO gets right: Very neutral, not quite as good as the Klasik 2020 in the midrange, but with better soundstage and instrument definition than the HS8. The catch: Ignores sub-bass, and the LF/HF trim dials lack a center detent so getting back to flat takes trial and error.
Buy the Genelec 8361A when sound quality outweighs the price for you, and the Focal Alpha 65 EVO when the price outweighs sound quality instead.

Pros: The coaxial design combines consistent imaging with substantial output capability. ASR measured a 1.8dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz, 33.7Hz -3dB extension and a 8.08 ideal-subwoofer score. Low distortion and restrained compression support its use at greater distances than smaller nearfield monitors. Woofers above and below the coaxial driver give nearly identical vertical response whether you sit or stand. Measured bass extension of 34Hz (-3dB).
Cons: Its larger size buys headroom, not uniformly better tonality than the smaller Ones models. Some lower-midrange unevenness remains, and listening angle can affect perceived treble balance. The cabinets are very heavy and expensive; GLM setup and suitable stands need to be budgeted separately.
