Earfun Uboom L vs JBL Pulse 6

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Short answer: the Earfun Uboom L. It ranks #2 of 164 medium speakers by sound quality, rated 4.6/5, at $49.79; the JBL Pulse 6 ranks #49, rated 3.7/5, and costs $329.95, so there is little reason to consider the other one.

Earfun Uboom L vs JBL Pulse 6

The Earfun Uboom L is the better-sounding, longer-running pick. One of the strongest small-speaker values for music: reviews praise clear vocals, a natural overall balance and a genuinely convincing stereo image when two are paired. It is rated for 16 hours of battery against 12 for the JBL Pulse 6. At 1.4 lbs (650 g) it weighs much less than the JBL Pulse 6 at 3.3 lbs (1.49 kg). It keeps a wired aux input, which the JBL Pulse 6 lacks. The tradeoff: It cannot produce real low-bass rumble or fill a large, noisy space, and the top end loses some detail.

What the JBL Pulse 6 does well: A 63.8mm woofer on 30W RMS and a 16mm tweeter on 10W RMS, with JBL rating the response down to 42Hz, well below the Pulse 5’s 58Hz. It links with other speakers (Auracast), which the Earfun Uboom L cannot. The catch: No independent measurements or tested reviews have been published yet, so its real bass extension, loudness and tonal balance can’t be compared with ranked speakers.

Buy the Earfun Uboom L. It is rated higher for sound quality than the JBL Pulse 6 and costs less, so only choose the other one for a particular feature it does better.

Pros: One of the strongest small-speaker values for music: reviews praise clear vocals, a natural overall balance and a genuinely convincing stereo image when two are paired. IP67 protection, indoor/outdoor sound modes and Video Mode make it unusually adaptable; Video Mode substantially improves lip-sync for a single speaker. Measured bass extension of 56Hz (-10dB).

Cons: It cannot produce real low-bass rumble or fill a large, noisy space, and the top end loses some detail. Low-latency Video Mode disables stereo pairing, so a two-speaker setup is not a good movie system. Firmware and app behavior have also varied over the model’s long life, and the physical controls can be easy to trigger in a bag. Latency is about 400ms by default and 66ms in Video Mode, which you enable by pressing the Bluetooth button twice.

Setup: Try setting up the Earfun App (Android or iOS) to see if that works. If not, you’ll need to flash firmware 1.2.7 to work with the app and set with Oluv’s EQ in the Earfun app which sounds the best. The instructions say that you need a USB3 cable, but most USB2 cables work just fine, try the one included with your phone. Check the current firmware version by turning it on, then pressing the power and Bluetooth buttons at the same time. To flash, turn the speaker off then hold down the Bluetooth button while plugging in the cable. To flash on a mac, see these instructions. In TWS mode, long press the outdoor button for 2 seconds to change TWS to Party mode and back.

JBL Pulse 6 ranking card

Older model: the JBL Pulse 5 (ranked higher, rated 3.7/5).

Pros: A 63.8mm woofer on 30W RMS and a 16mm tweeter on 10W RMS, with JBL rating the response down to 42Hz, well below the Pulse 5’s 58Hz. IP68 makes it fully dustproof and submersible, a step up from the Pulse 5’s IP67. The 360° light show now runs over an illuminated carry handle too, with 16 themes, a double-tap bedside lamp and a Sunset Mode sleep timer in the JBL One app. Bluetooth 6.0 with SBC, AAC and LC3, lossless playback over USB-C, and Auracast for stereo pairing or linking PartyBox speakers and PartyLight Sticks.

Cons: No independent measurements or tested reviews have been published yet, so its real bass extension, loudness and tonal balance can’t be compared with ranked speakers. It plays in mono from one woofer and one tweeter, so a single unit gives no stereo separation. Battery life is rated at only 12 hours from its 34Wh pack, charging takes up to 4.5 hours, and the USB-C port can’t charge a phone. There is no strap, only the built-in handle.
