The Bose Soundlink Revolve is the better-sounding, deeper-bass choice. True 360° sound stays consistent no matter where you stand around it, unlike most portable speakers. Its bass reaches about 60Hz before falling 10dB, against 68Hz for the JBL Grip. It keeps a wired aux input, which the JBL Grip lacks. The tradeoff: Strange sizzling treble, peaks and dips.
The JBL Grip is the lighter, tougher choice. Ambient light on the back with settable themes. At 0.8 lbs (385 g) it weighs much less than the Bose Soundlink Revolve at 1.5 lbs (660 g). It is rated IP68 against IPX4 for the Bose Soundlink Revolve. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Bose Soundlink Revolve lacks. The tradeoff: Lacking deeper bass, definitely the worst of the JBL line until you get to the smaller clip.
Buy the JBL Grip if price matters most. For better sound quality, the Bose SoundLink Revolve (Series II), the replacement for the discontinued Bose Soundlink Revolve, is rated higher but costs $194.
