Short answer: the Harman Kardon Citation 200 for bass, the Bose Soundlink Flex 2nd gen for size. The Citation 200 digs deeper than any Onyx but is overly boomy by default, though a short press of the Bluetooth and volume down buttons together decreases the bass. The Flex 2nd gen sounds pretty much identical to the 1st gen but is not stereo.
One note: the Harman Kardon Citation 200 is discontinued, but it still ranks #13 of 105 large speakers by sound quality, ahead of most of what is still sold new, so it is worth considering used.
Buy the Bose Soundlink Flex 2nd gen ($159) for a medium speaker; the Harman Kardon Citation 200 ($130) suits a large speaker instead.
There is a real gap in water resistance: the Bose Soundlink Flex 2nd gen at IP67 (brief submersion) against the Harman Kardon Citation 200, which has IPX4 (splashing).
