Both get measured against the Yamaha HS5, and both come out ahead of it. Our notes credit the T5V with better vocal detail and low end than the HS5, and the Alpha 50 EVO as more neutral than it. The T5V’s tradeoff is the AMT tweeter’s characteristic elevated, slightly uneven top end, shared across Adam’s T-series line.
The Focal has no listed cons at all, which is unusual on this site and part of why it holds the higher ranking.
Buy the T5V for the stronger value case. Buy the Alpha 50 EVO if the higher ranking and a completely clean review are worth the extra $194.
