Short answer: the ADAM Audio T5V unless budget rules. It ranks #38 of 108 against the Edifier R1280DB’s #94 of 108 and costs $274.01 less, beating the HS5 on vocal detail and low end, though its AMT tweeter is elevated and slightly uneven and the rear trim only tilts. The R1280DB handles power well for the price and does not bottom out or distort when played loud, but it is not quite as neutral as the Edifier MR4.
What the Edifier R1280DB gets right: Excellent bass output and power handling for the price, not bottoming out or distorting even played loud. Set against that: Not quite as neutral sounding as the Edifier MR4.
Buy the ADAM Audio T5V. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $274.01 you would save on the Edifier R1280DB does not close the gap.
