Short answer: the T5V, unless you specifically need the T7V’s larger cabinet. It ranks #28 of 64 powered bookshelf speakers at $239.99; the T7V ranks #54 of 67 in the larger bookshelf class at $289.99, $50 more.
Both share the AMT tweeter’s characteristic top end. Our notes describe the T5V’s treble as elevated and slightly uneven, a trait shared across Adam’s T-series, where the rear treble trim only tilts the response rather than flattening it out. The T7V has its own dispersion quirk: narrow vertical spread means you need to sit at tweeter height for the intended tonal balance.
The T7V is described as quite balanced and neutral, very close to the Yamaha HS8, with deeper bass than that larger monitor, at the cost of frequency response below 1kHz that measurements show as a bit ragged, though our notes say it responds well to EQ.
Buy the T5V for the stronger relative ranking and lower price. Buy the T7V if you specifically want a bigger cabinet with deeper bass and don’t mind correcting its response with EQ.
If sound quality matters at all to you, skip the Adam Audio T7V. It ranks near the bottom of the 67 powered bookshelf speakers, so look higher up the list instead.

Pros: ASR’s data shows a small 2.0dB span from 300Hz to 5kHz, a -3dB point around 59Hz, and scores of 3.74 standalone and 6.11 with an ideal subwoofer. It offers useful bass and midrange performance for an affordable studio monitor. Rear tonal trims allow broad placement adjustment.
Cons: The response rises toward the treble by about 0.56dB per octave, so the small midrange span should not be mistaken for flat full-band response. Upper-frequency unevenness remains, and a shelving control cannot precisely remove every peak. The existing review finds distortion reasonable for the price rather than reference-class; deeper bass and demanding levels still call for more capable hardware.

Pros: Audioholics’ measurements provide useful evidence about the midrange and treble, with a digitized 2.4dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz. Basic tonal controls and analog connections suit a straightforward nearfield system.
Cons: Correct listening height is important for the two-way crossover. Basic shelf controls offer less adjustment flexibility than parametric room correction.
