This page lists all 10 Arendal speakers ranked on this site across passive speakers and subwoofers. Each model is shown in the category where it competes, with its current rank and the size of that ranking.
Use the category position rather than the brand name alone: speakers from the same manufacturer can perform very differently by size, price and product family.
Medium Size Bookshelf Speakers
Ranked #5 of 34 in Medium Size Bookshelf Speakers - Arendal 1961 Monitor: $1150 Arendalsound
Pros: A physically robust build the reviewer calls “a little bit of a tank,” delivering low compression, low distortion, and overall really good neutrality - one of the reviewer’s top 10 picks under $1,500 across roughly 250 speakers tested. Works well both as home theater mains and as surrounds. Independent ASR Klippel measurements corroborate the low-distortion finding: THD at 86dB SPL/1m stays well below the reviewer’s audibility threshold, and even at 96dB SPL/1m it stays “far better than most bookshelves” thanks to the built-in high-pass filter that protects the woofers.
Cons: Bass rolls off around 70-80Hz, so it cannot be used as full-range mains for music without a subwoofer, and a sub is recommended for home theater use as well. Vertical radiation window is narrow, typical of MTM (mid-tweeter-mid) layouts - tighter than a standard two-way’s roughly ±20° - so a second home theater row sitting above or below the tweeter axis will hear a noticeably different tonal balance. ASR’s CEA2034 measurements show the response is elevated above 2kHz with resonant peaks around 3kHz and 9kHz, leading the reviewer to predict it will “likely sound bright.” Those same resonances show up as lingering ridges in the cumulative spectral decay (waterfall) at 96dB SPL/1m.

Large Size Bookshelf Speakers
Ranked #18 of 84 in Large Size Bookshelf Speakers - Arendal 1528 Monitor 8: $6000 Arendalsound
Pros: Three-way design featuring a 28mm tweeter, 5” mid-range, and dual 8” mid-bass drivers in a convertible sealed/ported HDF cabinet, with a supplied port bung for sealed operation near a wall. In ported configuration, reaches down to about 35Hz in most rooms (F3 41Hz, F10 26Hz) - deep enough that many listeners could skip a subwoofer unless they want output below 40Hz. Extremely low distortion and compression across the board (harmonic, multitone, and both long- and short-term compression testing) - among the best the reviewer has tested at this price, beating speakers costing twice as much. Wide, consistent horizontal soundstage of about ±60°. Smooth, non-fatiguing high frequency rather than the elevated “detail” boost common on speakers marketed for resolution. A slight forwardness around 1.5kHz adds a touch of attack without tipping into brightness.
Cons: A dip in the midbase around 100Hz noticeably reduces the “chestiness” of male vocals compared to the reviewer’s reference speaker. A diffraction-related flare in the upper-midrange/lower-treble (around 1.5-2kHz) gives a mild forwardness that benefits from sidewall absorption panels, though it’s not a major issue. Vertical sweet spot is fairly narrow at about ±20° - a bigger consideration for multi-row home theater seating than rivals like the MoFi SourcePoint 8, which manages about ±60°. The MoFi SourcePoint 8, a similarly-priced rival, also has more linear bass with no midbase dip, at the cost of a more elevated top end. Minor resonances appear around 400Hz and 800Hz in measurements, though the reviewer considers them inaudible or insignificant. Very heavy (about 104 lbs each) HDF cabinet requires dedicated, sturdy stands. Low EPDR (dips to about 1.9 ohms in two spots) means a Class AB amplifier needs to comfortably handle a 4-ohm load without overheating; a Class D amp is a safer choice for full-range use.

Ranked #33 of 84 in Large Size Bookshelf Speakers - Arendal 1723 Bookshelf S THX: $1,499/pair Arendal Sound
Pros: Exceptionally controlled radiation for a conventional two-way: Erin found the early-reflections directivity index smooth enough for broad-band EQ, while horizontal coverage remains orderly through the 1.5kHz crossover. Midbass attack around 120–160Hz is strong, the response is mostly neutral below the treble shelf, and dynamic compression remains under roughly 1dB even near 102dB/1m above the bass. The waveguided 28mm dome and heavy HDF enclosure support clean, cinema-capable output, and sealed/ported flexibility eases subwoofer integration.
Cons: Erin measured only 81.6dB/2.83V/1m sensitivity, so substantial amplifier voltage is required. Anechoic output rolls off around 80Hz and 3% THD is crossed near 80Hz at 96dB, making an 80Hz subwoofer crossover effectively mandatory. The treble sits a couple dB high on-axis and can sound bright; Erin preferred roughly 20° toe-out or a ~2dB high shelf. A vertical cancellation appears above the tweeter axis, so multi-row installations need careful height/aiming.

Large Size Floorstanding Speakers
Ranked #19 of 54 in Large Size Floorstanding Speakers - Arendal 1961 Tower: $1,900/pair Arendal Sound
Pros: Exceptional output cleanliness for a slim tower: Erin measured under 1% THD to about 100Hz at 96dB/1m and only crossed 3% near 80Hz, while compression was better than several physically larger competitors. The response and listening window are broadly neutral, early-reflections and sound-power directivity are well controlled, and the waveguided dome supports stable imaging. A sealed HDF cabinet, four 5.5-inch woofers and a ten-year warranty provide serious theater-grade engineering in a tiny footprint.
Cons: Erin measured F3 at 62Hz and F10 at 43Hz, so the four woofers prioritize clean output over deep extension; a subwoofer remains necessary. Sensitivity is a moderate 86.5dB and impedance dips below four ohms, which may challenge budget AVRs even though a competent power amplifier has no issue. The optimal axis is roughly 5° above the tweeter and radiation begins narrowing around 1.3kHz, so seat height and toe-in deserve attention.
