The Best Medium Size Speaker With Party Mode
The best medium size battery powered speaker with party mode is the $200 JBL Charge 6
- Positives: Seems more neutral than the Charge 5. Flatter frequency response through the mids and treble as the Charge 5 was quite rolled off up high. Use this EQ from Joy/Oluv and turn down the lowest bass slider for the best sound quality. Oluv has even more paid EQs specifically for the GG and TL models indoors and outdoors here
- Negatives: Still some boosted bass by default. Mids are recessed. Bright above 2khz. Quite a V shaped frequency response.
- Weight: 2.18lbs / 990g

The Best Large Size Speaker With Party Mode
The best reasonably priced large size battery powered speaker with party mode is the $120 Soundcore Boom 2
- Positives: Pretty deep bass for the size. Cool lights in the side passive radiators. For the best sound quality use Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ. With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble.
- Negatives: Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters. Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels. Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, I’d recommend turning it off. A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.
- Weight: 3.7lbs / 1.68kg
- Battery Life: 24 hours
- Max Volume: 105db
- Latency: 125ms

The Best Boombox Size Speaker With Party Mode
The best boombox size battery powered speaker with party mode is the $110 Earfun Uboom X (after clipped coupon and code UBOOMXDR in the payment options).
- Positives: Tuned by Oluv and he knocked it out of the park again. Deeper bass than the Stormbox Blast. Extremely neutral, possibly the best of any modern Bluetooth speaker slightly behind the Vifa Helsinki. The Earfun app (Android or iOS) has sound profiles created by Oluv for Studio, Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, BOOM xxX, and Ground 0 which are all fantastic. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every single volume level due to Oluv’s individual EQ settings at each volume level. Other speakers will need a different EQ at each volume level. Amazing sounding at low levels as it boosts bass and treble at low levels to account for the equal-loudness contour. Just considering the midrange and treble, this speaker is better sounding than the Earfun Uboom L.
- Negatives: The out of the box 0.33 firmware and EQ sounds horrible, please update it using the Earfun app (Android or iOS) and select an Oluv EQ. Some people have mentioned sound interruption issues when using 2 in TWS, I don’t have this issue with my Pixel 7 Pro.
