Vandersteen 2c - ranked #120 of 141 Large Size Floorstanding Speakers · Editor's rating 3.5/5

#120 Vandersteen 2c: $1,200 per pair Discontinued eBay

Newer model: the Vandersteen Model 2Ce Signature III, ranked higher, estimated 3.6/5.

Pros: A four-driver, time and phase aligned floorstander with first-order crossovers, pairing an 8 inch woofer with a 10 inch passive radiator. Erin’s Audio Corner measured a smooth predicted in-room response (0.62 smoothness) and bass reaching 48.3Hz (-3dB) and about 38.6Hz (-10dB), for a preference score of 3.89 that rises to 5.77 with an ideal subwoofer. Measured bass extension of 48.3Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 84.3dB.

Cons: The on-axis response is uneven (0.81 deviation), and the vertical listening window is only about ±10 degrees, so tonal balance shifts if your ears sit above or below the tweeter. Measured sensitivity is a modest 84.3dB. Replaced by the Model 2Ce Signature III. Discontinued.

How it compares: Just above it: Sonus Faber Lumina III - $1800 more, 4.7Hz higher bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: Polk Signature Elite ES60 - $801 cheaper, 5.7Hz higher bass extension (-3dB).
